From Middle Persian [script needed] (prznd /⁠frazand⁠/, child, son) (Manichaean Middle Persian [script needed] (frzynd, przynd)), from Proto-Iranian *frazanti-, from Proto-Iranian *fra- (forward, pro-) + a root descended from Proto-Indo-European *ǵenh₁- (to produce, give birth).
