Etymology
[edit]Calque of Arabic الْجَبَل الْأَسْوَد (al-jabal al-ʔaswad), itself a calque of Italian Montenegro, itself a calque of Serbo-Croatian Црна Гора (Crna Gora, literally “black mountain”).
