From Aramaic יַמִּינָא (yammīnā), from Proto-Semitic *yamīn-; compare Arabic يَمِين (yamīn), Hebrew יָמִין (yamín) and Akkadian 𒍠 (imnum). Doublet of ܬܲܝܡܢܵܐ (taymnā, south).
