Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit [Term?], from Sanskrit क्षत्र (kṣatrá, rule, authority), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *kṣatrám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kšatrám, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *tek- (to obtain).[1] Doublet of शहर (śahar).
