Inherited from Prakrit 𑀲𑀤𑁆𑀥𑀸 (saddhā), from Sanskrit श्रद्धा (śraddhā, belief, trust; expectation, desire). Cognate with Odia ସାଧ (sadhô), ସାଦ (sadô), Hindi साध (sādh), साद (sād).
