Etymology

Inherited from Old Punjabi ਅੰਦਰਿ (andari), from Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀢𑀭 (aṃtara), from Ashokan Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀢𑀭 (aṃtara), from Sanskrit अन्तर (ántara)^[1] and borrowed from Classical Persian (andar).^[2] Doublet of ਅੰਤਰ (antar), a learned borrowing.
