Borrowed from Pali dosa (defect; demerit; fault; flaw; mistake; offence; wrong). Compare Modern Khmer ទោសៈ (toosaʼ, anger; hatred; violence). And Compare Sanskrit दोष (doṣa, defect; demerit; fault; flaw; mistake; offence; wrong), from which Thai โทษ (tôot, penalty; punishment; etc) was derived.
