Etymology[edit]
Perhaps from Austroasiatic; compare Khmer ពន្លូត (pŭənluut, “to enlarge; to augment”, literally “to cause to appear; to grow”), from លូត (luut, “to sprout; to grow; to become longer”) (Schuessler, 2007).
