Etymology
[edit]Compound of 膨れ (fukure, “puffed, puffed up”, stem of verb 膨れる (fukureru, “to become puffed up”)) + 面 (tsura, “face”), from the practice of puffing one's cheeks in an expression of displeasure.[1][2][3]
First cited to the late 1700s.[1]
