Inherited from Proto-Turkic *buŕagu (calf). Cognate with Chuvash пӑру (păru), Turkish buzağı, Uzbek buzoq, Bashkir быҙау (bıźaw). Compare also Proto-Mongolic *biraxu, Hungarian borjú, Turkic borrowings.
