Palatalised variant of -ùkas, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *-ukas, from Proto-Indo-European *-kos; compare Latvian -uks, Proto-Slavic *-ъkъ. Compare Proto-Germanic *-ukaz > English -ock (hillock, bullock).
