From Swedish Kajaneborg, from Kajana (Kainuu) + borg (-burg: town), probably from Russian каяний (kajanij) and каянский (kajanskij) and cognate with Finnish Kainuu and Old Norse Old Norse kvenir. Equivalent to Cajania +‎ -burg.
