Most of these words are falsely catecorized
[edit]This category is badly messed up. "Derived from" - means "originally loaned through this language". It means which language form the word was probably originally loaned from to Finnish or some of its ancestor languages.
While Uralic languages including Finnish have words that were loaned during proto-Indo-European era and in the form, they were then, most of these words have been loaned from later Indo-European languages. They should not be in this category at all. However, I don't have time or energy to clean up this mess. 91.225.69.21 09:20, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- No, "derived from" is used on Wiktionary to refer to any kind of derivation, even if it is indirectly through other languages. — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 13:29, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
