[edit]From Ancient Greek Δραγγιανή (Drangianḗ), probably from Old Median; ultimately from Old Iranian *zranka- (“sea”).[1] Compare the Old Persian name of the place: 𐏀𐎼𐎣 (z-r-k /zaranka/).
