From genug +‎ -e, literally enoughness.

Noun

[edit]

Genüge f or n (strong, genitive Genüge or Genüges, no plural)

  1. (formal) sufficiency; a sufficient amount

Usage notes

[edit]

Traditionally, Genüge is feminine as can be seen from the expression zur Genüge (enough; more than enough). Today, the noun is more often than not interpreted as a neuter (on the model of morphologically similar neuters, such as Gebirge, Getreide, and many more).
