German[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from English manager.
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
Manager m (strong, genitive Managers, plural Manager, feminine Managerin)
- manager (see usage notes below) (male or of unspecified sex, sometimes female)
- agent of an artist or sportsperson (male or of unspecified sex, sometimes female)
- Synonym: (more common for sportspeople) Agent
Usage notes[edit]
- The word is used in a narrower sense in German than it is in English. Generally, it refers to a member of the management of a company or profit-oriented organization, usually one of larger size. Due to this use, German Manager may have a negative connotation, particularly in Socialist or left-wing contexts.
