Etymology

Possibly an extended form of *krew(H)- as found in Proto-Germanic *hrewwaną (“to be/make sad, regret, rue”) and Proto-Tocharian *krun- (“to strike, hit”).[4] Ancient Greek κρούω (kroúō) may reflect either root.
