The sense 'confession' must be confused with признание, or, if it really exists, it needs some label: rare? archaic? some special context? Allahverdi Verdizade (talk) 12:27, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Grammatically, it is correct, as it is derived from сознаться (soznatʹsja, “to confess”). признание has a different sense of confession. Even the wikipedia page explains the word as confession, as in confession before a mother or confession before a priest. Not archaic at all, I have seen and heard it numerous times. - @Allahverdi Verdizade, Thadh: I have added the "obsolete" label. This sense is completely forgotten but can be confirmed. E.g. the Russian Wiktionary entry for сознание has a Pushkin quote where the term is used in the sense with a related verb, which makes it even more obvious: " "Нужна ли тебе моя критика? Нет! не правда ли? всё равно; критикую: ты сознаёшься, что характер поэта неправдоподобен; сознание похвальное, но надобно бы сию неправдоподобность оправдать, извинить в самой комедии, а не в предисловии." --Anatoli T. - RFV resolved by retraction, but @Atitarev, it would be much better if you included that Pushkin quote (and two others) in the entry itself. Also, nothing has changed with linking: ru:сознание works just fine. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:26, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
