Because of the semantics, and because the augment goes between ἀνα- and λέγω in indicative past tenses: ἀνέλεξα. It won't do that with a real compound such as ἀγαθοποιέω (agathopoiéō), AFAICT.
Neither fr.wikt nor etymonline are particularly good sources for thorough/accurate morphological analysis. --Per utramque cavernam 09:56, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
