critical thinking [edit]

Might this be just critical + thinking? --Hekaheka (talk) 13:04, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

It has been bureaucratized into courses in secondary schools and possibly higher aimed at those who will be consumers of what is produced by students of rhetoric. Numerous glossaries have it. See critical thinking”, in OneLook Dictionary Search.. DCDuring TALK 14:40, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia itself has some definitions which are too specific to be SOP:
  • "reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do"
  • "thinking about thinking"
  • "the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action"
  • "purposeful, self-regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based"

Are they definitions or predicates? DCDuring TALK 17:09, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm unsure. I do know one good argument why it isn't a set phrase, though, and that argument can be seen at google books:"think critically". --Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:24, 23 September 2012 (UTC) RFD passed due to lack of consensus. --Hekaheka (talk) 20:36, 25 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
