I have a question. Some dictionaries mention "investment" as a synonym for "investiture," when both refer to the process of giving power to an incoming official (like the placing of the papal vestments on the Pope, or the the investiture of presidential powers in Barack Obama). However, I am curious as to whether "investiture" can be used as a synonym for "investment" in a more colloquial sense, such as a "a substantial investment of time/effort/money." Could one also speak of an "investiture of time/effort/money?" Thanks so much!!!
