Etymology[edit]
Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰh₂u-ro-, from *bʰuh₂- (“to be, become”). Close to Proto-Germanic *būraz (“inhabitant, dweller”). Possibly through Germanic.[2] Possibly related to Thracian [script needed] (bur).[3]
