Etymology[edit]
From Classical Latin creāre, present infinitive of creō (“I create; I beget”), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱreh₁-eh₂yéti, derived from the root *ḱer- (“to grow, become bigger”). Compare Campidanese criai.
