Esperanto[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Ancient Greek γαμετή (gametḗ, “wife”), γαμέτης (gamétēs, “husband”), ultimately from γάμος (gámos, “marriage”). Also morphologically equivalent to gamo (“gamut, musical scale”) + -et- (diminutive affix).
