Reduplication of heu, ultimately from Proto-Polynesian *seu (compare with Tahitian heu, Tongan heu (“to ward off, to stir, to rake”), Samoan seu (“to ward off”), Fijian seu (“to scratch, to paw, to scoop”).[1][2]
