Maori[edit]

Etymology 1[edit]

Reduplication of heu, ultimately from Proto-Polynesian *seu (compare with Tahitian heu, Tongan heu (to ward off, to stir, to rake), Samoan seu (to ward off), Fijian seu (to scratch, to paw, to scoop).[1][2]
