The second element is from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *(s/r)-ma(ŋ/k) (“dream”), therefore cognate with Burmese မက် (mak), Old Tibetan རྨང་ལམ (rmang lam, “dream”), Old Chinese 夢 (*mɯŋ, “dream”). Compare Burmese အိပ်မက် (ipmak, “dream”), Jingpho yup mang (“dream”), Taraon jɑ⁵⁵ mo⁵³ (“dream”) and Nuosu ꀀꂼ (it muop, “dream”). Compare with Lhao Vo yhab mo, , Zaiwa yvupmoq, and Longchuan Achang it⁵⁵ mɔʔ⁵⁵.
