Etymology
[edit]From Middle Vietnamese sắt, from Proto-Vietic *k-rac; cognate with Muong Bi khách and Chut [Rục] kʰlat⁷. Borrowed from some form of Chinese 鐵 (OC *l̥ˤik) (B-S) (SV: thiết). Compare Lakkia kʰjãk⁵⁵ (Pain, 2020).[1]
Attested in Phật thuyết đại báo phụ mẫu ân trọng kinh (佛說大報父母恩重經) as 可列 (MC khaX ljet) (modern SV: khả liệt).
