From Latin stellio (“a newt with starlike spots on its back”), from stella (“star”).

stellion (plural stellions)
- A lizard (Laudakia stellio or Stellagama stellio). It is olive-green with small stellate spots, commonly found in the rocky areas around the Mediterranean.
- Synonyms: starred agama, roughtail rock agama, hardim, hardun, star lizard
