Etymology

Coined by Antun Mažuranić and Josip Užarević in their 1842 Němačko-ilirski slovar. Combining form derivative of zvijézda (star) +‎ -znanstvo (science, -ology) from znȃn +‎ -stvo (abstract noun forming suffix).
