[edit]

Noun

[edit]

'ásh (possessed singular hé'ash, plural he'áchem)

  1. an animal which is owned, a pet

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Many animals (including birds) never take possessor prefixes, but rather add them to the appropriate form of 'ash: "my dog" is 'awal né'ash (lit. dog my pet) or né'ash 'awal. Since this category includes horses and other livestock, it is not exactly the same as English pet.
