- medium rare (food)
- (figuratively, law enforcement) softened up (of a suspect)
- Quand on se trouvait devant un suspect qui n’était pas à point, on le mettait en glacière. Après une heure ou deux il était souvent un peu plus loquace.
- When faced with a suspect who wasn't ready, we'd put him in the cooler. After an hour or two he was often a little more talkative.
