Pronunciation[edit]

  • (file)

Verb[edit]

öva (present övar, preterite övade, supine övat, imperative öva)

  1. to practice, to train to do something, to exercise
Jag kan inte spela gitarr än, men jag övar varje dag.
I cannot play the guitar yet, but I practice every day.
Vi övar på att spela gitarr.
    We practice playing the guitar.

Usage notes[edit]

  • Used with when mentioning what is practiced. Hence "öva varje dag" (practice every day) but "öva att spela gitarr" (practice playing the guitar.)
