Etymology[edit]
From Ancient Greek ἀναμονή (anamonḗ), derived from Ancient Greek ἀναμένω (anaménō, “to wait”). Can be synchronically analyzed as ανα- (ana-, “re-, above”) + μένω (méno, “to stay”).
