Etymology

τραγουδ-ώ (tragoud-ó) + -άω (-áo). From Byzantine Greek τραγουδῶ (tragoudô), from Ancient Greek τρᾰγῳδῶ (tragōidô, act a tragedy; make famous). See τραγῳδίᾱ (tragōidíā), English tragedy.
