φορώ (foró) + -άω (-áo). Inherited from Ancient Greek φορῶ (phorô) contracted form of φορέω (phoréō, to bear constantly, wear), frequentative verb of φέρω (phérō, to bear). Corresponds with Proto-Hellenic *pʰoréyō, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰoréyeti.
