Etymology[edit]

Shift from А́на (Ána) and/or Ангели́на (Angelína). Perhaps gained popularity after the publication of Henryk Sienkiewicz's Without Dogma, which (in Bulgarian translation) features a character by Ане́ля (Anélja), an abbreviated form of this term.
