From Arabic إِلْيَاس (ʔilyās), (possibly via Ancient Greek Ἡλίας (Hēlías)) from Biblical Hebrew אֵלִיָּהוּ (ʾēliyyāhû).

Akin to Elias.

Cognate with Uzbek Ilyos, Turkish İlyas.
