Inherited from Classical Mongolian ᠰᠡᠯᠡᠩᠭᠡ (Seleŋge) or ᠰᠡᠯᠢᠩᠭᠡ (Seliŋge).

Initial sibilant С- (S-) had irregularly not debuccalised to Һ- (H-).
