From Classical Mongolian [Term?], from Middle Mongol (qoničin); equivalent to хонь (xonʹ, sheep) +‎ -чин (-čin, denominal agentive suffix). Cognate with Khamnigan Mongol хоничон (xoničon), Buryat хонишон (xonišon), etc.
