Etymology

From євро- (jevro-, “euro-”) +‎ бляха (bljaxa, “license plate”). Бляха (Bljaxa) borrowed from Polish blacha.

1. (slang) A car registered in the European Union, but which is too old to be legally driven within its borders, and thus sold at a cheap price to a Ukrainian, who brought it into Ukraine without paying customs duty due to a legal loophole.

   Працю́ючи на ми́тниці, я ледь не щодня́ стика́вся з євробля́хами. ― Pracjújučy na mýtnyci, ja ledʹ ne ščodnjá stykávsja z jevrobljáxamy. ― While working at the customs, I had to deal with eurobliakhas almost every day.
