Perhaps from Ancient Greek Καππαδοκία (Kappadokía), but with unexplained -ով- (-ov-), which usually corresponds to -ω- (-ō-). Compare the long -ō- in Classical Syriac ܩܦܕܘܩܝܐ (Qappaddōqīyā).
