[edit]Borrowed from German Trüffel, ultimately from French truffe. Reanalyzed as a word suffixed by ־ל (-l), hence the neuter gender. Semantically unrelated to טריפֿלעך (triflekh). Doublet of טרופֿליע (truflye).
