Ottoman Turkish[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Italian Palermo, from Sicilian Palermu, from Arabic بَلَرْم (Balarm), ultimately from Latin Panormus, from Ancient Greek Πάνορμος (Pánormos), from πᾰν- (pan-, “all”) + ὅρμος (hórmos, “port”), apparently because of the good natural harbor.
