Löwit, pages 137–138 who actually contends h having developed from ḥ against Fleischer, who compared it and Mishnaic Hebrew מוֹהַל (mōhal, “sieve”) with Arabic مُهْل (muhl, “molten material such as tar, metal, oil etc.”) and Greek μούχλα (moúchla, “mould”) and Jewish Babylonian Aramaic מוּגְלָא and Classical Syriac ܡܘܓܠܐ (mūḡlā, “pus”), to which one later could have added Middle Armenian մգլահոտ (mglahot, “smelling of mold”).
