Borrowed from Classical Persian اَوَّلًا (awwalan), from Arabic اَوَّلًا (awwalan), from the root ء و ل (ʔ w l) . By surface analysis, अव्वल (avval, “first”) +‎ -अन (-an, “-ly”).
