Borrowed from Urdu قمیض (qamīz) (likely influenced by Hindi क़मीज़ (qamīz)), itself from Arabic قَمِيص (qamīṣ), from Latin camisia, in turn from Proto-Germanic *hamiþiją. Compare with Nepali कमिज (kamij).
