Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Classical Persian گناه (gunāh), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (wnʾs /wināh/), 𐫇𐫏𐫗𐫀𐫍 (wynʾh /wināh/, “sin, crime”). Compare Gujarati ગુનો (guno), Hindi गुनाह (gunāh), Punjabi ਗੁਨਾਹ (gunāh) / گُناہ (gunāh), Bengali গোনা (gōna).
