Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Classical Persian ضد (zidd), from Arabic ضِدّ (ḍidd). Compare Gujarati જિદ્દ (jidd), Hindi ज़िद (zid), Punjabi ਜਿਦ (jid) / ضِد (ẓid).
