- c. 500 AD, Kaccāyana, Pālivyākaraṇaṃ [Pali Grammar][1], page 257; republished as Satish Chandra Acharyya Vidyabhusana, editor, Kaccayana's Pali Grammar (edited in Devanagari character and translated into English), Calcutta, Bengal: Mahabodhi Society, 1901:
- वत्तमाना इच्चेसा सञ्ञा होति ति, अन्ति, सि, थ, मि, म, ते, अन्ते, से, व्हे, ए, म्हे इच्चेतेसं द्वादसन्नं पदानं।
- Vattamānā iccesā saññā hoti ti, anti, si, tha, mi, ma, te, ante, se, vhe, e, mhe iccetesaṃ dvādasannaṃ padānaṃ.
- The sign of the present is one of these twelve endings: ti, anti, si, tha, mi, ma, te, ante, se, vhe, e, mhe.
