Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀲𑀺𑀭𑀸𑀳𑀸𑀡 (*sirāhāṇa), from Sanskrit शिर-आधान (śira-ādhāna), from शिरः (śiraḥ) +‎ आधान (ādhā́na).
